What to have ready
- The address or ZIP code where the work is
- What is happening, in your own words. Technical terms are not required.
- A photo if there is something visible, like a panel or a scorched outlet
- Whether it is urgent or can be scheduled
Safety note
If you smell burning, see smoke, or an outlet or panel is hot to the touch, shut off the circuit at the breaker if you can do it safely and call right away. If there is active fire or arcing, call 911 first.
Common Questions
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates are free. Call 701-400-8990 and describe the project, or send an estimate request from the contact page, and we will tell you what it takes to get you a number.
What areas do you serve?
Bismarck, Mandan, Lincoln and the surrounding North Dakota communities. If you are not sure whether your address is in range, call and ask.
Are small jobs worth calling about?
Yes. Small jobs are a normal part of the work. A single dead outlet or one added circuit is a job we will come out for.
How long has Alpha Electric been in business?
Since 2001, working in and around Bismarck the entire time.
Do you work on both homes and businesses?
Both. Residential work is the bulk of it, plus small commercial repairs, lighting and remodel projects for local businesses.
Are you near me?
If you are in Bismarck, Mandan, Lincoln or the surrounding Burleigh and Morton County area, yes. Alpha Electric is based in Bismarck, so most of the service area is a short drive rather than a trip charge. Call 701-400-8990 with your address and we will tell you straight.
Can you come out the same day?
For a genuine emergency, yes, any hour: a hot panel, a burning smell, a main that will not hold, storm damage to the service. Call, do not use the form. For everything else it depends on the current schedule; call and describe what is going on and you will get an honest answer about when we can be there.
Do I need a permit for electrical work?
Often yes, for anything beyond a simple device or fixture swap. Panel upgrades, new circuits and remodel wiring generally require a permit and an inspection. We handle that as part of the job so you are not left figuring out the process.
How much does a panel upgrade cost?
It depends on the existing service, the panel location, the utility connection and how much of the existing wiring has to be reworked. That is why the estimate is free. We look at the actual panel before quoting a number.
